Ashley 4th X1 produced another excellent performance in their second game of the season to produce their first win of the campaign.
Captain Foster again lost the Toss, and Urmston elected to Bat first.
Openers Bryant and Brown started well, with Bryant making a good 45 before he fell, bowled by Broaders with the score past 50. Broaders then had Downes caught behind, and Foster (J) bowled. Coop then had Naughton caught behind, and Eadie came back to induce Brown to give Jukes a fine catch on the Boundary, trap Fleet LBW, and bowl Luby as wickets continued to fall quickly. Foster then finished the innings off, with 2 wickets as Urmston subsided to 99 all out. A superb bowling and fielding performance had left Ashley with a very attainable total, though they were aware the Urmston bowling attack had dismissed another team for 31 the previous week.
In reply, Bega was bowled by Foster (J) with the first legal ball, before Wimbury and Singh steadied the ship a little. Wimbury was also bowled by Foster (J), who also accounted for Foster, and Jukes, before Haycocks came in to join Singh, who had scored consistantly at the other end. Haycocks blocked out an end, while Singh continued to score runs freely. AShley overtook the total of 99, with another 4 from Singh, which left him with a superb 71 out of 101, and gave a win by 6 wickets, much to the delight of the home team.
